aGROWForests Project

aGROWForests is a climate-smart agriculture project that aims to promote sustainable farming management practices in the forestry and agriculture sectors to increase resilience to climate change, improve soil health and increase agricultural productivity. The project focuses on implementing agroforestry systems that integrate trees with crops and livestock, contributing to carbon sequestration, biodiversity conservation and improving the livelihoods of rural communities. 

Nursery Operator

The pepper nursery operator will be directly responsible for activities that include technical and non-technical activities on and off the land, including:


  1. Lead and monitor the implementation of pepper nursery activities, such as preparing nursery sites, taking seedlings, maintaining, and preparing seedlings ready for planting.
  2. Create documents of expense and income reports from nursery operations every month, such as daily labor, input, fuel, materials, equipment, etc.
  3. Collecting supporting data such as seedlings availability, research, and activity documentation.
  4. Create monthly activity report documents.
  5. Willing to visit farmers' gardens or governments if needed.

Requirements

Suitable candidates for pepper nursery operators must have the following qualifications and experience:


  1. Have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in agriculture or related majors.
  2. Male with a maximum age of 30 years.
  3. Residing on Bangka Island.
  4. Has a motorcycle and a C driving license.
  5. Willing to be placed in Namang, Central Bangka.
  6. Have an understanding of pepper cultivation and/or experience in pepper nurseries.
  7. Have an understanding and/or experience in the field of agroforestry.
  8. Mastering Microsoft Office such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  9. Having English language skills (speaking, writing, listening) is more desirable.

Output

The expected output from a pepper nursery operator includes:


  1. Monitoring and evaluation reports on activities in the pepper nursery every month.
  2. The financial report includes expenses and income every month.

Reporting

The nursery operator will report directly to the demo plot manager and communicate with other project teams such as the training team, community development team, and land management team.
